South Korean fans hoping to see Paul McCartney perform in Seoul for the first time in his legendary career will be disappointed to hear that the former Beatle has been forced to postpone the performance there. McCartney has been ill with a virus since last week and was forced to cancel his Japan shows over the weekend.
The show in Seoul was organized by Hyundai Card Co. Ltd., which released a statement on McCartney’s behalf on Wednesday, reports CBS News.
“I was really looking forward to visiting and playing in South Korea for the first time and I'm sorry to be letting fans down,” McCartney is quoted as saying. “I'm very disappointed by this and hope to be able to visit soon.”
Organizers added that the cancellation was “unavoidable.” Anyone with tickets will be refunded.
McCartney announced on Saturday that he had come down with an illness, which forced him to postpone his show in Tokyo that day. While he had hoped to perform the show on Monday, he was forced to postpone the shows indefinitely. He had scheduled four total shows in Japan, all of which have been cancelled.
McCartney is supposed to perform in the U.S. next month as part of his Out There tour. He is currently promoting his new album, NEW.
