Never-before-heard music from Johnny Cash, musical legend, will be released in 2014.
Cash’s estate will be releasing Out Among the Stars, an album recorded with Billy Sherrill in the early 1980s, the album was never released by Columbia Records. The music being released was recorded during a very difficult time for Cash in both his professional and personal life.
AP reported that the album disappeared when the company dropped Cash back in 1986. It has come to light that Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash hid the tapes. It turns out that Cash didn’t throw much of anything away.
John Carter Cash spoke about how his parents held onto almost everything. "They never threw anything away, they kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it from the original audiotapes from The Johnny Cash Show to random things like a camel saddle, a gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia,” said Cash.
Multiple music books and restoration projects have been started in the past few months to mark what would have been the musical legends 80th birthday.
Out Among the Stars will be out March 25, 2014, USA Today reported.
