FX has made a deal for a potential new sitcom starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence. They struck the same type of deal they did with Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management, where they agreed to air 10 episodes and if it’s well received, they will pick it up for an additional 90.
The sitcom will feature former Frasier star, Grammer, and fellow veteran actor Lawrence as lawyers who strike up a partnership. Producers Bob Boyett and Robert Horn, (Family Matters, Living Single) will executive produce and write the script for the show.
This marks the first show since Grammer’s Boss ended on Starz after two seasons.
Chuck Saftler, president of program strategy and chief operating officer of FX Networks, said in a statement, “With the merging of two comedic geniuses, as well as two legendary showrunners, we couldn’t have a stronger team on board for this show and can’t wait to get to work,” LA Times reports.
In a statement, Grammer said "Martin is arguably one of the funniest men alive and after some success in drama I thought it might be time to try my hand at comedy. I am thrilled to have this extraordinary team show me the ropes. All kidding aside, I don't think a better bunch of talent exists; I am honored and blessed,” TV Guide reports.
As for Lawrence, he is “looking forward to making a good show with a lot of laughs."
