Star Wars: Episode VII will reportedly be filmed at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. While Disney and Lucasfilm already confirmed that the film would be made across the pond, reports have confirmed that it will be made at one of the U.K.’s most well-known studios.
Screen Daily first reported today that production crews are already starting to move in and that filming will start in early 2014, as director J.J. Abrams expected. Casting has also stated, as evidenced by the recent casting notes that leaked.
According to Deadline, Pinewood refused to comment, but another source for the site confirmed the news.
All of the Star Wars films were shot in London, using iconic facilities like Elstree, Shepperton, Leavesden, Ealing and Pinewood. Disney said last month that Episode VII will follow that precedent.
Pinewood will be a very busy location for Hollywood over the next two years. Disney is using the studio for Cinderella and just finished work on Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent there. Marvel will also film Guardians Of The Galaxy there and Fox is planning on making Ridley Scott’s Bible epic Exodus there as well, notes Deadline.
