Seth Rogen's R-rated 'Sausage Party' trailer plays before 'Finding Dory'

Children and parents in a California movie theater got a very unexpected surprise when they went to see Finding Dory and a trailer for Seth Rogen's upcoming R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party was the first thing they saw.

The cursing hot dogs led the parents to complain, leading vice president of operations, Walter Eichinger to issue an apology for his mistake.

“Playing that trailer was a one-time honest mistake by a theater manager moving screens around in effort to accommodate several large last-minute groups wanting to see Dory,” he told East Bay Times.

He continued to say how the film was started by mistake and was caught, but not until the trailer played.

"We regret it, apologize for it, and we are not happy that it happened. We fully realize this trailer is not appropriate for Dory and we would never schedule something like that."

Sausage Party features the voices of Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig and Michael Cera. The trailers features violent scenes where food items meet their demise, a potato is skinned alive and baby carrots are being chopped and squealing.

Sausage Party is set to premiere in theaters on Aug. 12.
