Kesha forbidden to perform at Billboard Music Awards by Dr. Luke

“Tik Tok” singer Kesha was getting ready to pay tribute to Bob Dylan at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards airing Sunday, May 22, but she is no longer allowed to perform on the show due to her recent legal drama with Dr. Luke.

Kesha posted to Instagram stating she, “just wanted to make very clear that this performance was about me honoring one of my favorite songwriters of all time and has never had anything at all to do with Dr. Luke."

According to Billboard, the singer accepted the invitation to perform along with written approval from Kemosabe Records, Dr. Luke’s record label.

"Kemosabe subsequently rescinded its approval following a media report on Wednesday May 11 regarding Kesha’s appearance on the BBMAs. Unfortunately, Kesha and Kemosabe have since been unable to come to an agreement for Kesha to perform on the show.”

Fans of the artist have taken to Twitter using the hashtags "KeshaForBBMAs" and "#freekesha" to show that they want her to perform at this year's show.
