Child star Elijah Wood has come forward making some shocking allegations against the entertainment industry. The Good Son actor claimed that pedophilia is a real issue in Hollywood in a recent interview.
Wood told the Sunday Times that clearly there was something major going on in Hollywood to the point that he thought it was "organized."
"There are a lot of vipers in this industry, people who only have their own interests in mind,” he said. Wood also said knowledge of what is happening left him feeling bummed especially since "the victims can’t speak as loudly as the people in power."
The interview also quoted him as saying that it was difficult for the victims to speak up because they could "be squashed" and not only that, "their lives have been irreparably damaged."
Wood, 35, was never a victim of such abuse and credit his mother, Debra, for protecting him. He said because of her he never attended parties where things like that would be going on.
"If you're innocent, you have very little knowledge of the world and you want to succeed. People with parasitic interests will see you as their prey.”
Even as an adult, The Lord of the Rings star believes that you can be led down dark paths and realized that these things are still occurring and are still an issue.
Wood took to Twitter to clear up some of what was reported.
"The Sunday Times interviewed me about my latest film but the story became about something else entirely," he tweeted. He said because of the interview, headlines had come out that were "false and misleading."
He continued to say that he had watched a documentary about the subject and was speaking upon what he's learned not personal experience.
