Peyton Manning is still going to be on the sidelines Monday, since the Denver Broncos will have Brock Osweiler start at quarterback against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak announced today that he will stick with Osweiler for at least another week. Manning is still recovering from torn plantar fascia and will not practice or be active all week.
Monday night’s game will be Osweiler’s sixth start and comes after the team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. That was their second loss in a row and they haven’t been able to score points in the second half since their win over the New England Patriots in week 12.
The game against the Bengals will be a duel between young replacements. The Bengals will be without Andy Dalton again, so A.J. McCarron will start again.
If the Broncos don’t win, they could be in danger of losing their division. They are only a game ahead of the surging Kansas City Chiefs, with two games left to play.
As for Manning, he said this week that rumors that he would not be happy as Osweiler’s backup were “bullshit.”
