Suspended FIFA president Sepp Blatter admitted to Swiss hospital

Outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been admitted to a hospital in Switzerland for what is being called a “small breakdown.”

BBC News reported that the 79-year-old suffered from what was described as a “nervous shock” and he will remain hospitalized for several days.

"My brain and heart are fine, but my body is letting me down," Blatter said according to his chief spokesman.

His friends and family say that he is able to communicate with them and is expected to make a full recovery.

As we previously noted, last month Blatter was suspended for 90 days by the soccer governing body’s ethics committee for allegedly signing an “unfavorable” contract and making a “disloyal payment” to Michel Platini. The UEFA President was also given a 90-day ban. Both men have denied the allegations against them.

Blatter led FIFA for 18 years, but after the criminal investigation was launched he was pressured to step down. His successor will be elected next year.
