Brooks Ayers is coming clean about faking medical documents in an effort to prove he has cancer, which was a major storyline on this past season of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County.
Ayers, who previously dated Vicki Gunvalson, released a statement admitting to “fabricating” the documents he produced after a spokesperson for the hospital he claimed he received treatment from denied they ever treated a patient by his name.
In a statement to E! News, Ayers said, "Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to 'prove' to the world that I, in fact, have cancer.” He went on to call his behavior “inexcusable” and claimed Gunvalson had no idea about it, something her cast members question.
"I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren't true simply for a 'storyline' for the show,” he continued.
Ayers does still continue to stand by his claims that he has cancer, saying "my own personal journey with this disease will remain private" from now on.
