One Direction get visibly uncomfortable when asked about Zayn Malik on 'Ellen'

Things got pretty awkward on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when the boys of One Direction were asked about their former band member, Zayn Malik. They didn't even have to say anything, their body language did all the talking for them.

DeGeneres brought up the elephant in the room right away when she asked if any of them still talk to Malik since he quit the band in March. She also asked if they knew he wanted to quit.

Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne fumbled around when trying to answer questions, but when DeGeneres noticed Harry Styles giggling, she called him out.

When Tomlinson said they “had a feeling” Malik wanted to leave the band and Payne said he’s talked to him a few times since he left, Styles started fidgeting and laughing, which prompted DeGeneres to ask, “Are you lying? Why are you laughing?”

“Because you could cut the tension in here with a knife,” Styles said, stating the obvious. “Let’s make some jokes!”

Meanwhile, Malik’s first interview since leaving the band might reveal why there was so much awkwardness surrounding questions about him, because he said he’s really not a fan of the music and doesn’t listen to it.

He also revealed a snarky name for his first single, “BeFour.”
