50 Cent slams 'Empire' for decrease in ratings, apologizes for reposting homophobic remark

50 Cent hasn’t been shy about voicing his disdain for Fox’s Empire, especially when it comes to his belief that they ripped off his Starz show Power. In a new Instagram post, the rapper posted his most controversial view on the show yet.

50 cent reposted a meme that claimed to explain Empire’s decrease in viewers, but he later deleted it and renounced its words.

“EMPIRES TV RATINGS TOOK A HUGE HIT,” he wrote as a caption. “Ok I’ll stop now, COOKIE CALL ME BABY. I’ll tell every body to watch the show for you.LOL.”

The controversial statement in the meme read, “we could not take the extra gay stuff,” which likely referred to Jussie Smollett’s character Jamal.

However, his rep has since told Zap2It, “Mr. Jackson reposted something on Instagram that originated from a blog in relation to the decrease in Empire’s ratings. When he realized there was additional content in the blog post that he did not agree with, he immediately deleted the post as that is not a reflection of his views at all.”

He followed up in an Instagram post, “It must be a slow news week.”
