Rihanna has joined NBC’s The Voice, in a surprise move that will surely excite her fans. Her involvement as the key advisor was announced on Thursday.
Instead of joining as an advisor to one of the four mentors; Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani or Pharrell Williams, she will serve as an advisor to all four judges. She joins the show in the same capacity Coldplay frontman Chris Martin did last year.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt confirmed the news at the TCA Press Tour in Beverly Hills.
“We landed Rihanna to be the key advisor to all the coaches this fall," he said. "This is one of music's true supervisors coming on board to influence the lives and careers of the performers."
The Voice will return on Sept. 21, featuring Shelton and Stefani in their first season since announcing their respective divorces.
Stefani split from Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage this summer and Shelton split from Miranda Lambert, who previously worked as an advisor on the show, after four years of marriage earlier this summer.
