Considering the mess going on with Lil Wayne and his label, YMCMB, it didn’t come as a surprise when rumors starting swirling that he would sign with Jay Z’s label Roc Nation.
Lil Wayne himself was the one to prompt those rumors when he announced he was partnering with the “Tom Ford” rapper during his appearance at KMEL's Summer Jam in Oakland.
Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, told TMZ his statement about working with Jay Z was misinterpreted. He won’t be signing to Roc Nation but he will be putting his music on Jay Z’s streaming site, Tidal. His next album will be released on Tidal instead of through Young Money.
Back in December, Wayne dropped a bombshell on Twitter when he tweeted he wanted “off” of Young Money because they “refuse” to release Tha Carter V.
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy,” he wrote. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity.”
