Top 10 knockouts from this week of ‘The Voice’

The Voice is back and the search is on to find the best vocal talent in America. This season features the return of Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams along with Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

This round of the competition features the knockout rounds, which take place following the battles. At this point, the teams are competing against each other for a spot to advance to the live shows. Two artists from each team will sing separately and it will be up to his/her coach as to who to send forward to the live shows. This round also features the “steal” element. Each coach will have the chance to steal an artist after they are eliminated. After this round of competition, the live shows will kick off and the power turns from the coaches to America who can vote for their favorite to advance.

This week features Nate Ruess from Fun. as a mentor for everyone vocalist. He joins Taylor Swift and Chris Martin as one of the few people who served as a mentor to everyone on The Voice.

10. Joe Tolo-One Of Us

Joe Tolo represented Team Christina in the knockouts and impressed with his incredible powerful performance of “One Of Us.” It seemed effortless and really hit a stride during the end of the song. Despite a really well done performance, Tolo did not advance to the live shows.

9. Kelsie May-Tim McGraw

Kelsie May returned to the very early days of Taylor Swift with her knockout performance of “Tim McGraw.” May didn’t show off her vocal power or range with this song choice, it felt at times too simple. With only a few spots left in the live shows, May’s performance of Swift’s classic wasn’t enough to advance her within the competition.

8. Barry Minniefield-What Won’t You Do For Love

Barry Minniefield brought the soul and smooth jazzy sound to Team Adam and performed “What Won’t You Do For Love” during his knockout performance. It was fun and sexy but it wasn’t enough to have Minniefield advance to the live shows.

7. Brooke Adee-Electric Feel

Brooke Adee took on “Electric Feel” by MGMT representing Team Blake. Her performance was out of the box and unlike anything else featured during this round of knockouts. Adee is something that Team Blake hasn’t had yet, an indie rock powerhouse and Adee earned a spot in the live shows with this performance being a member of Team Blake.

6. Tonya Boyd Cannon-I Wish

Tonya Boyd Cannon representing Team Adam put all of her energy and sass into her performance of “I Wish.” Her performance had attitude, liveliness and showcased her unique vocal tone and range. This knockout song earned her a spot in the live shows representing Team Adam.

5. Treeva Gibson-Chasing Pavements

Team Christina member, Treeva Gibson sang “Chasing Pavements” by Adele for her knockout performance. Gibson really gave this song her all and put everything on the line but her vocal range wasn’t enough to capture the power and passion that Adele puts into her music. Aguilera decided not to advance Gibson to the live shows.

4. India Carney-Big White Room

India Carney, Team Christina member, impressed with her subtle yet emotional performance of “Big White Room.” It was no surprise that early favorite Carney advanced to the live shows.

3. Rob Taylor-Love and Happiness

Rob Taylor, representing Team Christina, took on an Al Green classic and delivered in everyway possible. His performance had soul, depth and passion. His performance was a standout and it made for an easy decision for Coach Christina, she advanced him to the live shows.

2. Joshua Davis-Arms of a Woman

Joshua Davis earned his spot on Team Adam with his performance of “Arms of a Woman.” Davis is a front-runner in the competition when it comes to the rock musicians because his tone is smooth but his delivery is strong. Davis is able to tell a story with his performance and because of that, he advanced to the live shows representing Team Adam.

1. Lexi Davila-Anything Could Happen

Team Adam member Lexi Davila put her own spin on Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” and impressed all of the coaches. She put her own attitude on the song and really made it her own. The performance got Pharrell on his feet, in disbelief. Despite an amazing performance, she was let go from Team Adam but Christina hit her last steal button and Davila is advancing to the live shows as a member of Team Christina.
