New Kansas City Royals outfielder Paulo Orlando has three hits this season and they all happen to be triples, which makes his start historic.

Yahoo! Sports reported that Orlando, who spent nine years in the minors and finally got a big-league chance this season, is making the most of his at-bats knocking out three triples already.
Royals VP of communications Mike Swanson pointed out that the 29-year-old’s hits are historic because he is the only player to rack up three triples as his first three hits.
Orlando’s first triple came against the Chicago White Sox last Thursday in his debut and his next two were hit off the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday.
As the Washington Post noted, triples are the most difficult hits to muster up. Between 2010 and 2014, triples only accounted for 0.5 percent of at-bats. By comparison, one-tenth were doubles and one-fifth were home runs.
Curtis Granderson is the current record holder for the most triples in a season with 23 back in 2007.
ZiPS has projected that Orlando will hit about nine. Even though that’s not enough for the record, the Brazilian outfielder is still having a great start for team that is poised to win a lot of games again this year.
