Philadelphia Eagles to sign Miles Austin (Report)

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to add another wide out to the team’s depleted receiving corps and are expected to sign free agent Miles Austin.

NFL.com reported that Austin is visiting with the Birds this week and if all goes well, the team is expected sign him.

The 6-foot-2, 215 pound receiver played for the Cleveland Browns last season before he was placed on injured reserve.

Most fans likely remember the 30-year-old from his days with the Dallas Cowboys where he started his career in 2006, mainly playing on special teams.

He had a breakout year in 2009 though and was selected to the Pro Bowl, Pro-Football-Reference.com noted. He made the Pro Bowl the following year as well but was then plagued by several injuries while with the team and was released before the start of the 2014 season.

If Austin’s best days are behind him then the Eagles may have some trouble at the receiver position this year after letting Jeremy Maclin go to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Right now, the team’s wide outs consist of Riley Cooper, Josh Huff and the one bright spot in Jordan Matthews.
