Octavia Spencer signs on to Lionsgate's 'The Shack'

Octavia Spencer is known for choosing unique roles, from The Help to Fruitvale Station when it comes to her career and it appears that she has found her next project. Spencer has entered into final negotiations to join Lionsgate's The Shack.

Variety added that the feature film will be based on William P. Youngs novel with the same title. The movie will be directed by Stuart Hazeldine.

The film will tell the story of a man whose daughter is taken during a family vacation. Upon searching for their daughter, the evidence leads them to believe that she has in fact been murder. It is not until many years have past that the daughter's father receives a note that encourages him to look into his daughters abduction. The note appears to be from God.

Spencer was most recently seen on Fox's drama Red Band Society, which has been cancelled after the season one finale. Spencer can also be seen in the upcoming sequel to Divergent, In Insurgent, The Wrap reported.
