MTV's 'Scream' TV series may be titled 'Hush'

MTV's Scream TV series isn't using the Ghostface mask, and it may not even use the name Scream.

According to Dread Central, a few websites have put out casting calls for the Scream series, referring to it under a new title: Hush. Could this be our new title?

Of course, a lot of times movies and shows will go into production under a fake title to maintain some secrecy, but as Dread Central points out, it's not like this is a secret project, so they probably wouldn't really need to do that here.

These casting calls are looking for extras to play high school students, police officers, and teachers. The show is now in production in Louisiana.

The show will center around a viral video which leads to a murder in the town of Lakewood. The show seems to be doing things a bit differently from the classic movie franchise, using a "darker, more grounded" mask instead of the classic ghostface mask, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Jill Blotevogel will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the series. Wes Craven, who directed the original Scream films, is on board as a producer. The show will star Emma Duvall, Aubrey Jensen, Kieran Wilcox, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Noah Foster.

Hush is expected to premiere this October on MTV.
