Adrian Peterson’s agent says the running back wants out of Minnesota

Ben Dogra, the agent for running back Adrian Peterson, said that it may not be best for his client to play out his contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

ESPN noted that on Monday, Dogra told reporters that he does not feel it is in Peterson’s “best interest to play in Minnesota" anymore.

At the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, Dogra then said that his client wants out of Minnesota despite having a contract with the team through 2017.

The comments made by Dogra are not at all surprising. Many already know that Peterson wants to play for another team next season. As previously reported, the embattled running back has requested a trade to the Dallas Cowboys, but the Vikings do not appear to want to deal the 30-year-old.

"The bottom line is Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings,” co-owner and president Mark Wilf said. “He's represented us on and off the field. We're getting ready for the 2015 season and we fully expect him to join his teammates and be a part of what we feel is going to be a great season ahead."

Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges in September and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless assault in November. He was suspended by the league until April 15, but a federal judge overturned the suspension last month.

This latest situation sure seems like it is just a ploy to get Peterson to play in Dallas; especially after the Cowboys let star running back DeMarco Murray sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys have since acquired running back Darren McFadden, but it could be a tough task for him to try and replace the NFL’s leading rusher, even behind the league’s best line. However, many believe that Peterson could easily step into that role.
