Mark Ronson has a hit on his hands with his Bruno Mars collaboration “Uptown Funk,” and he’s now releasing a new album, Uptown Special.
He has dedicated the album to the late Amy Winehouse, a friend a collaborator. Ronson worked with Winehouse on her album Back to Black as well as her cover of “Valerie” in 2007. He also dedicated it to late friends Teenie Hodges and producer DJ Mehdi.
On Twitter, Ronson revealed his dedication section was left off of his album when it got printed so he left a handwritten note as a substitute.
He wrote, "This album is dedicated to the memory of Teenie Hodges and DJ Mehdi and to Amy Winehouse.”
To Winehouse, who passed away in 2011, he wrote, “Although I wish you were still here, I'm always thinking of you, inspired by you and your music lives on in myself and everyone who ever felt it. Love, Mark."
