In honor of all of the movies that have been released this year, TheCelebrityCafe.com is counting down the top ten worst movies of 2014. From the Adam Sandler comedy Blended to Transformers: Age of Extinction, these movies did not succeed when it came to storyline or box office results. What movies did you see this year? [new page= Blended]

10. Blended

Adam Sandler is known for making audiences laugh but lately his movies have not had the same charm and humor that fans have come to know and love. Excitement had started to build when it was announced Sandler would be teaming up again with Drew Barrymore from 50 First Dates but that chemistry didn’t carry over into Blended. The comedy was flat and it wasn’t a hit for Sandler or Barrymore.

[new page=Devil’s Due]

9. Devil’s Due

Horror movies have a track record for either hitting a home run or striking out. Devil’s Due really struck out. January is the month when movies are released that the studio executives have little faith in and Devil’s Due wasn’t worth the time. The scares were cheap, the storyline seemed unrealistic and the acting wasn’t strong. This is a horror film that 2014 could have done without.

[new page=Rage]

8. Rage

Rage featured Nicholas Cage with a performance that not only lacked energy but any life itself. The movie was dull and a slow paced action thriller that couldn’t deliver on the plot or punches. Even Danny Glover wasn’t able to save this film.

[new page= Vampire Academy]

7. Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy was trying to capitalize on the Twilight fame, and just became another Vampire movie that was poorly thought out and under performed. 2014 marked the end of the Vampire craze.

[new page= Transcendence]

6. Transcendence

Transcendence had a lot of hype around it before the film was released for audiences. This marked the directorial debut of Wally Pfsiter, the cinematographer for Christopher Nolan. Pfsiter is known for his beautiful and brilliant created shots that have left an imprint on cinema but when it came to directing, the story of Transcendence felt rushed and confused. Even with a star-studded cast, it ultimately fell short at the box office and with fans.

One of the major questions of 2014 when it came to cinema was; is Johnny Depp’s career in trouble? His past few movies have not performed well and his unique characters, other than Captain Jack, seem to be wearing thin.

[new page= Grace of Monaco]

5. Grace of Monaco

Nicole Kidman, an Oscar winner, playing Grace Kelly in a biopic. From that description alone, this movie had Oscar potential but it wasn’t until the film was released that it was realized that this film failed on all fronts. The movie was plagued by a long run time and Kidman’s performance was underwhelming when it should have been one of her best because of the character of Kelly.

[new page= The Legend of Hercules]

4. The Legend of Hercules

2014, featured two Hercules movies, both were not good but The Ledged of Hercules was the worst of the duo. Kellan Lutz played Hercules but couldn’t deliver a strong performance. He looked the part, but wasn’t believable as an actor. The storyline was flat and the highlights of the films had been shown in the trailer. It is hard for two movies with similar storylines to compete but in this case The Rock crushed Lutz at the box office and in acting skills.

[new page=Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a success on a lot of levels including performing well at the box office but the film failed to capture the magic that is the Turtles. It felt like a poor retelling of a famous cartoon in order for studio heads to make money off of the already well-known brand.

Even though this film was only produced by Michael Bay, it was clear that his imprint was felt. April O’Niel, a famous female role model from the Turtles universe, was used a sex symbol and under utilized. If Turtles would have captured the magic from the real vision and let the characters develop, like O’Niel, it would have been a home run.

[new page= I, Frankenstein]

2. I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein was just not a good movie, even with the help of Aaron Eckhart, the storyline was poor and the whole movie was just a mess. It was even released in January, the month were studios put movies that they do not have faith in, and still under performed at the box office.

It could have been a powerful and twisted horror movie but in the end, it fell short because of lack of character development, a dreadful plot and awful special effects.

[new page=Transformers: Age of Extinction]

1. Transformers: Age of Extinction

Even though Transformers: Age of Extinction was one of the highest grossing films of 2014, it is also by far and without a doubt one of the worst. Michael Bay at this point decides that the Transformers will fight on screen and the human characters just don’t matter to the storyline. This movie objectified woman, had awful product placement and seemed like a high school freshman film class wrote the plot.

Yes, the film was visually extraordinary and featured over the top special effects but in the end Michael Bay proves that he just wants to make a lot of money and doesn’t care about what the fans have to say. He will do things his way, or the highway but even if the storyline is awful, fans will still spend the money to see Optimus Prime and his Auto Bot brothers.
