Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced: Ringo Starr is last of The Beatles, Green Day and more

The list of musicians that will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been released, which features the last of the Beatles to join.

Ringo Starr, Lou Reed, Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, The "5" Royales and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band will receive the honor in 2015.

In order to be eligible, 25 years has to pass from the time of the artists’ first album or single.

Washington Post reports Green Day actually received the honor in the first year they were able to – making them the youngest on this year’s line-up. Their album 1,000 Hours came out in 1989.

Starr will accept the Award for Musical Excellence during the ceremony on April 18, 2015 at the Public Hall in Cleveland. He was inducted with The Beatles back in 1988 but he’s now the last of the band to get inducted as a solo artist.

Starr told Rolling Stone, "This means recognition to me. And it means, finally, the four of us are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even though we were the biggest pop group in the land. You know that won't look funny in black and white."

Reed, Vaughan and Butterfield will be inducted posthumously, having died in 2013, 1990 and 1987 respectively.
