Over two years ago, K-Pop star PSY became an international phenomenon with “Gangnam Style” and it turns out that people are still watching the video. In fact, it’s so popular that it broke YouTube’s view counter.
The original video was posted in July 2012 and has since reached 2.15 billion views. It is easily the most-watched video in YouTube’s history by a long shot and took that title from Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in November 2012.
(Bieber’s song “only” has 1.2 billion views at the moment.)
YouTube had never actually thought that a video would be viewed in a number greater than a 32-bit integer, 2,147,483,647, the Google-owned company said. They now have to upgrade the view counter to a 64-bit integer, 9,223,372,036,854,775,808. (Who knows what will happen if the video reaches that point.)
According to the Huffington Post, when you put your cursor over the song’s view counter, the numbers go haywire.
Kim Kardashian may have tried to break the Internet, but PSY beat her to it.
