Congratulations to American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and his new fiancee Hannah Blackwell!
Phillips and Blackwell each took to social media to share the happy news.
Phillips posted a picture of himself and Blackwell on Facebook, saying "My best Christmas surprise is happening. We're engaged yall! @HannahBlackwell !"
While Blackwell posted a picture of the ring on her hand with an old photo ornament of herself in the background on Instagram with the caption "I've been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I've been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness."

According to Starpulse, Phillips asked Blackwell to meet him at their new home where he got down on one knee and proposed.
The couple met back in 2009 while volunteering at a women's and children's shelter. Blackwell is a nursing student, and can be seen in the music video of Phillips' hit song "Home."
