Criminal Minds last night was not really a fairytale for the unsub, a young woman named Claire who would kill men who did not live up to her fairy tale hopes for happily ever after.
Claire was a young woman who ended up in foster care with a mother who had her own biological daughters and she was left with a feeling of wanting an ending like Cinderella. However, when the men were not the Prince Charming of her dreams, she would stab them to death.
Another storyline in the show centered on JJ, who had an argument with her mother after she found out she had told her son, Henry, about JJ’s deceased sister. Because of her sister’s suicide, JJ and her husband had agreed not to tell Henry about it until he was older. But when Henry saw a photo of her sister Rosaline, it was a moment JJ was not prepared for.
The episode was a heartbreaking look at JJ’s life, as well as a chance to see some acting skills from our own Spencer Reid. Actress AJ Cook’s son, Mekhai Andersen, also made an appearance in the episode as Henry. We’re taking a look at some of the top ten moments from the episode, “If The Shoe Fits.”

10. Chiseled arms
While talking to the team by phone about what she has found, Penelope once again teasingly refers to her banter with Derek Morgan when she talks about fitting “snugly into the chiseled arms of Derek Morgan.” It leaves Morgan, Rossi, and Kate with amused smiles.

9. Reid’s story
At this point, we are used to the stories and facts that Reid tells us and this one is no different. When he brings up a battle no one knows about, Kate decides to “take the bait” and asks him what it was. Apparently it was a battle in 1335. Only Reid.

8. Shoes
During the investigation, the team is unable to ascertain as to how a particular wound was created, which was found on two of the victims’ necks. After some thinking, JJ decides to do a little “shopping” and discovers that the murder weapon is likely a stiletto heel. I’d have fun doing that research too.

7. Kate’s sneaky interrogation
So far, we have seen that Kate is a very capable interrogator and agent. Tonight is no different as, in order to get a victim’s friend to reveal who the victim had been meeting with, she tells him one of the girls in a secret sex tape was just shy of 17, meaning he could go to prison for child porn. The witness is sickened and tells her evetything he knows. Morgan then tells Kate none of the girls were underage, but of course, the witness doesn’t know that.

6. Rossi’s brain
In a short scene with Reid, Rossi is given a suggestion about how to help his brain since he apparently is like a night owl lately. Reid suggests he adjust his circadian clock into a “traditional chronotype,” which is another way of saying your internal sleep rhythm most likely. He tells Red the concern is appreciated, but he likes his brain where it is.

5. Unsub
The unsub, Claire Dunbar, is referred to as an “annihilator” by the BAU and we learn that she was placed in foster care and she had an upbringing that led her to try and find a way to relive the Cinderella fairy tale.

4. JJ and Reid
During the case, Reid notices JJ is a little off and she tells him about her argument with her mom. She talks about wanting to protect children from the realities of the real world and Reid tells her how the original fairy tales were written to help children overcome their darkest fears.

3. JJ and her mom
JJ’s argument with her mom showed they are very different in how they talk about Rosaline. Her mom tells JJ the family has always been good at avoiding what happened to Rosaline, who committed suicide when JJ was a child.

2. Reid acting
Since Claire is trying to find her Cinderella moment, Hotch has an idea and we hear him tell Reid to take something with him while he and JJ go to find Claire at the cemetery before she can hurt another victim. Reid shows up acting as the prince who has been looking all over the city for his princess and even has the stiletto heel from evidence to put on her foot. JJ keeps a protective watch with her weapon in case Reid needs help.
[new page= Bedtime story]
1. Bedtime story
At the end of the episode, JJ is at home drinking some wine while talking to Will by phone. After hanging up, she hears Henry call her name. He is having trouble sleeping and asks for a bedtime story. JJ offers to tell him her own story and she sits on the chair while he snuggles into her lap. She tells him a story about two sisters who make a vow to look up at the night sky whenever they were lonely so they would know the other was always watching the same sky.
