Taylor Swift disappears from Spotify, streaming service comes up with perfect response

Sadly, Taylor Swift fans won’t be able to shake it off while listening to Spotify. The singer’s music has mysteriously disappeared from the streaming service, just after the release of her latest album.

Spotify confirmed the sad news in a blog post on Monday, noting that 16 million spotify users streamed Swift’s music over the past month. Her music is also included on over 19 million playlists.

“We hope she’ll change her mind and join us in building a new music economy that works for everyone,” the statement reads. “We believe fans should be able to listen to music wherever and whenever they want, and that artists have an absolute right to be paid for their work and protected from piracy.”

The service came up with a really cute response to Swift’s decision, posting a playlist of songs to help bring her back.

While the news does coincide with the release of Swift’s 1989, it also comes just days after The New York Post reported that Big Machine Records is up for sale. Owner Scott Borchetta is hoping to sell for over $200 million.

In addition to Swift, Tim McGraw and Rascal Flats are also members of the Big Machine roster. The label is almost finished with its Universal Music Group distribution deal and Swift only has one album left on her contract.

Billboard predicts that 1989 sold over 1.3 million copies during its first week. Final Nielsen SoundScan data will be released on Wednesday.
