Rolling Stones cancel on Australian fans again, this time for Mick Jagger's illness

For the second time in a year, the Rolling Stones have been forced to cancel a show in Australia. The legendary rock group said that frontman Mick Jagger is ill and will not be able to perform.

The Stones announced that Jagger’s doctors have ordered him to rest his vocal chords since he developed a throat infection. So, the group will have to cancel the Hanging Rock show on Sunday near Melbourne.

“The Rolling Stones are incredibly disappointed to cancel the Hanging Rock gig and to disappoint their fans but were left with no other option,” a spokesman for the group said.

In comments to fans on Facebook, the group’s rep confirmed that the date will not be rescheduled. “The band and the promoters tried very hard to reschedule the date but unfortunately it has not been logistically possible,” one reply read. “We’re so sorry to disappoint you all.”

Fans will be able to receive a refund.

The group’s next scheduled show is Wednesday in Sydney. They also have three other shows scheduled through the rest of the month.

This is the second time fans in Australia have been disappointed. In March, the group postponed the entire Australia and New Zealand tour after the death of Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott. They began touring again in May.

Jagger, 71, is the latest rock icon forced to delay or cancel a show due to illness. Back in May, Paul McCartney had to cancel Japan and South Korea dates after getting sick.
