Nike officially drops Adrian Peterson after child abuse plea deal

Adrian Peterson may have settled his child abuse case in the eyes of the courts, but it’s still not known if and when he will be welcomed back to the NFL. What is known though is that he is losing endorsements, with Nike officially terminating its deal with the Minnesota Vikings running back.

Back in September, when Peterson was first arrested for using a switch on his four-year-old son in Texas, Nike initially suspended its deal with him. However, Nike confirmed today to Bloomberg that it has decided to cut all ties with Peterson immediately.

According to ESPN, Peterson also lost contracts with Castrol and EpiPen when he was charged with child abuse.

Peterson agreed to plead guilty and was sentenced Tuesday to 80 hours of community service and a $4,000 fine. The NFL is currently reviewing the case and isn’t expected to make a decision on his reinstatement until next week.

He is currently on the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt list, so NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would have to approve his reinstatement first before the Vikings decide if he will ever play for the team again.
