John Denver finally receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Iconic singer John Denver finally received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Friday. The late singer’s family attended the ceremony.

Denver, who died in 1997 at age 53 in a plane crash, received the 2,531st star on the famous Walk of Fame, the Associated Press reports. Both his son, Zak Deutschendorf, and daughter, Jesse Belle Denver, were at the ceremony.

According to AceShowBiz,Trampled by Turtles performed Denver’s hit “Annie’s Song” in tribute.

While that was going on, an exhibition displaying Denver’s photographs opened at the Substrate Gallery. Sweet Sweet Life: The Photographic Works of John Denver will be on display through November.

Denver is best known for his series of optimistic, uplifting hit singles through the 1970s, including “Annie’s Song,” Rocky Mountain High” and “Thank God I’m A Country Boy.”

According to JohnDenver.com, the ceremony also comes as RCA/Legacy Recordings prepares to release a new box set of Denver’s work, called All of My Memories: The John Denver Collection, which will span his entire career. The four-disc set will include 90 songs and hits stores on Nov. 4.
