J. Cole sets release date for new album, won't be releasing any singles

Roc Nation rapper J. Cole posted a lengthy video on Sunday night to tease his upcoming album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Cole, whose first name is Jermaine, will drop the album next month without any singles to support it.

In the post, which was accompanied by a seven-minute film, Cole wrote that 2014 Forest Hills Drive has been completed and will be in stores on Dec. 9. “This time I'm releasing no singles, just the album. See you in 3 weeks. Thank you for the love and support,” Cole added.

According to MTV News, the video takes Cole back to his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He’s seen at a skating rink, visiting his old high school and goes to the spot where he first performed. It fits the album, since it is named after the street where he grew up.

Cole also posted the album up for pre-order on iTunes. The track names are not listed, but it shows that there are 13 tracks. The album cover, showing Cole sitting on the roof of a house, was also posted.

“There’s a lot of people in Hollywood right now who have been there for a long time, and they’ve forgotten about their small-town lives, because they like this life better,” Cole says in the video. “This s**t ain’t real.”

Cole officially unveiled the album just hours after it was rumored that he would be releasing a new record before the end of the year, Music Times reports.

Back in , Cole released a special single for free, called “Be Free,” following the protests in Ferguson, Missouri. The track was a tribute to Michael Brown, the unarmed teen from Ferguson who was shot and killed by a police officer.
