Bono's injuries were worse than originally stated after cycling accident

Bono’s cycling injury is worse than what had been reported.

Among the injuries revealed in a statement by Dr. Dean Lorich released on Rolling Stone on Wednesday, Bono had injured not only his arm, but his face and shoulder. Reportedly, the accident happened when the lead singer of U2 tried not to hit another bicycle rider while cycling through Central Park in New York. He was taken under emergency care of New York-Presbyterian/Wiell Cornell Medical Center.

The specific injuries listed in Dr. Lorich’s statement included “left facial fracture involving the orbit of his eye,” “left scapula (shoulder blade) fracture in three separate pieces,” and a “left compound distal humerus fracture” where the broken bone went through his skin. The day after, Bono received surgery on his left hand.

U2 was originally scheduled to perform this whole week on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, according to International Business Times, but had to cancel after the incident. The hospital where Bono resides said that they were unsure about the length of time he would be under observation before they let him out.

Dr. Lorich said in his statement that he expected Bono to recover completely.
