This time of year marks the cancellation and continuation of television programs and ABC has made the next announcement regarding their fall lineup saying that the hit musical drama Nashville will be back for a third season.
Variety reported that ABC and Lionsgate TV made the deal on Friday to keep the country drama for another season. The show has done well in the ratings but complications arose when the state of Tennessee recently downside its production tax incentive program.
The show will most likely be renewed for a full 22-episode season but due to the timing of the announcement on late Friday afternoon it could not be confirmed.
Nashville has done well on the iTunes charts and in soundtrack sales because of the popular songs that are performed on the show. The stars and performers of Nashville also recently took part in a short concert tour that included playing at Gotham’s Best Buy theater on May 6.
ABC has already announced that they will be renewing Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Revenge, Castle and Once Upon a Time, Entertainment Weekly added.
