Ariana Grande is responding to reports that her Nickelodeon show Sam & Cat is getting canceled after only one season amid reports she’s feuding with her co-star, Jennette McCurdy.
On Thursday, Grande tried to clear up the rumors on Twitter, making it clear that she makes the same amount of money McCurdy does to be on the show.
In a lengthy message, she wrote she doesn’t normally respond to gossip and rumors but this particular situation is “really bothering” her.
“Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show),” she said. "The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense."
She continued to say about rumors of the show getting canceled, reportedly due to the network being unhappy with McCurdy over the racy photos that leaked of her, she said she can’t give a definitive answer because she’s “not directly involved with the problem.”
For McCurdy’s part, there’s clearly tension between her and the network, as she blamed them for her recent absence at the Kids’ Choice Awards. As we previously reported, she took to Twitter to say she was put in an “uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation” and isn’t happy with “how nickelodeon treated me.”
