The Oakland Raiders continued their dive into free agency by signing defensive end Antonio Smith to a two-year contract worth $9 million.
The Raiders have let some of their own free agents leave, including offensive tackle Jared Veldheer and defensive lineman Lamarr Houston. They have signed defensive end Justin Tuck and outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley though, according to CBS Sports.
CBS Sports ranked Smith as the No. 42 free agent, and he finished 17th in the Pro Football Focus 3-4 defensive end rankings.
Smith has played with the Houston Texans for the past five seasons, playing in the right position in a 3-4 scheme. He recorded five sacks for the Texans in 2013, increasing his career total to 41.5. He began his career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2004 and remained there until 2008.
He played in 15 games after not missing a single game from 2006 to 2012. He missed a game in 2013 due to a suspension after a confrontation with former Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, according to Mercury News.
