Darren Aronosky's Noah had a strong Friday at the box office, while the other new wide release of the weekend, Sabotage stumbled hard right out of the gate.
Paramount's Noah grossed $15.24 million at the box office in its first full day of release, which is a strong start for the film. Forbes reports that the film is projected to earn about $41 million for the weekend. The film has already earned a combined $21 million in South Korea and Mexico.
Lionsgate's Divergent earned a decent $8.3 million to start of its second weekend in theaters. The Shailene Woodley-led film will likely earn about $26 million for the weekend. Muppets Most Wanted earned $2.6 million and will likely gross $9.6 million, bringing its disappointing total box office total to $31 million.
Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel continues to expand into more theaters and earned $2.3 million at the box office on Friday and will likely earn about $8 million, which would be good enough for fourth place.
According to Deadline, Mr. Peabody & Sherman continues to show a little life in theaters after earning another $2.18 million. The film is projected to earn about $9 million and could challenge Muppets for third place at the box office.
In its second weekend God's Not Dead earned $2.2 million and is projected to make $7.7 million, which would bring its total gross to $21 million.
Arnold Schwarzenegger's new film fell flat on its face with a Friday box office total of $1.78 million. Projections have tumbled after a weak start and the film will likely only earn $5.38 million.
