Lorde urges fans to kiss Westboro Baptist Church protesters

The Westboro Baptist Church is known for being very vocal against mainstream musicians such as Blake Shelton, Vince Gill and the Foo Fighters but now the church has decided they will be protesting "Royals" singer, Lorde's show in Kansas City, MO.

Billboard reported that in a series of Tweets that has since been removed from her account Lorde encouraged fans to provide a colorful and warm welcome to the protesters. She asked fans to wear rainbow clothing and kiss the protesters.

The group has a full lineup of protesting to do including picketing Young the Giant and comedian Nancy Griffith shows in the next few weeks.

The church recently commented on Lorde saying that "she “doesn’t have enough sense to put in a thimble." The news of this protest seems odd after the news just broke that the founder of the church, Fred Phelps. is near death. Turns out that Phelps had been excommunicated from the church in a power struggle with other members, The Guardian reported.

Lorde is enjoying a tour overseas and will be heading back to the United States soon for more shows in support of her chart topping album and single "Royals."
