Florida eliminates Dayton to reach Final Four

The Florida Gators have reached the Elite Eight four years in a row, but they failed to reach the Final Four the last three years. They finally got over the hump by ending No. 11 seed Dayton's Cinderella story. They defeated them handily, 62-52.

The Flyers kept it relatively close until the Gators pulled away to take a 38-24 lead at halftime. The scored remained distant from there as the Gators played hard defense on the Flyers, holding them to 39.6 percent shooting.

The Gators also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Flyers 37-26. Will Yequete and Casey Prather each led the Gators in rebounds with seven.

ESPN reports that the Gators won their 30th consecutive game, improving their record to 36-2. This tops the 35 wins achieved by the 2007 national championship team.

Scottie Wilbekin led the Gators with 23 points, and Patric Young added 12 points, according to Sporting News.

Dyshawn Pierre led the Flyers in scoring with 18 points, and Devin Oliver added 12.

The Gators will face the winner of the Michigan State-UConn Elite Eight matchup on April 5.
