‘Collide’ by Gail McHugh

Collide is by New York Times & USA Today bestselling author Gail McHugh. It is the first book from the Collide Series that introduces an addictive steamy love triangle.

Mourning the loss of her mother and close to graduating college to become a teacher Emily Cooper takes a bold step in moving to New York City. In the search of a fresh new start in the Big Apple Emily moves in with her close friend Olivia.

Emily’s long time loving boyfriend Dillon Parker helps her move in and transition into the big city. Dillon has always taken care of Emily and wants nothing more to officially make her his wife. From the outside Dillon is the epitome of the perfect boyfriend; caring, loving, thoughtful, and sweet. Emily feels like she has the perfect life with the support of her boyfriend and friend until she meets Gavin Blake.

Working as a waitress, Emily delivers food to Gavin’s job. At the first encounter there is an instant attraction between the two. Gavin is a rich, charming, bachelor that is used to women throwing themselves at his feet. “Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome” as Emily endearingly refers to Gavin through out the novel has swarmed her thoughts since their friendly exchange.

Emily quickly puts up a wall against Gavin because she is with Dillon. She goes to the extent to giving him a fake name, and she believes they will never cross paths again. In their second encounter things become more complicated as they have a mutual friend, Dillon.

Caught dead in their tracks Gavin and Emily try their hardest to play off the coincidence as no big deal. As Gavin and Emily are thrown into spending more time together their chemistry ignites as they can’t fight off their connection. Gavin proves to Emily that he will stop at nothing to have her in his life. In the mist of figuring out what Emily truly wants hearts will be broken, friendships severed, and lives flipped upside down.

Some of the scenes were completely swoon worth and draw you in completely. The connection between Gavin and Emily was beautifully written and will have you rooting for her to pick him. Olivia was extremely witty and an amazing friend. The banter between Dillon and Olivia was hilarious and made you love Olivia even more. Dillon was cold and unbelievably unreasonable at times, so it was refreshing to see him be put in his place by Olivia.

Overall Collide was a heart stopping, adrenaline pumping, angst novel that will keep you guessing till the very end.
