Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t understand the malice of our time, saying she has no interest in reading what people say about her. The former Sex and the City star opened up to the British version of Harper’s Bazaar and talked about the fame culture, as well as how much different it is now than when she starred as Carrie Bradshaw on the hit HBO show.
"It's kind of surprising to say, but in a way [Sex and the City] was a more innocent time," she said, adding women today are “pretty unfriendly towards one another.”
Parker, 48, also told Harper’s Bazaar she’s proud that her character, Carrie, and her friends, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte were kind to each other.
"She was a really good friend. That's why [women] can forgive those very apparent flaws and selfishnesses,” she explained of Bradshaw. “She was a deeply devoted friend, and I think women really respond to that kind of connection. I think we all want it, we all work towards having it, and we're not always the very best friends we can be."
The show ended 10 years ago this week and Parker talked about how different women on television and in general are today.
“They use language that's really objectionable and cruel and not supportive,” she said.
People reports when it comes to Googling herself or reading what the media says about her, she admitted she has “absolutely no constitution for that.”
