It was a royal celebration at Buckingham palace on Monday night. Queen Elizabeth II, her granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Michael of Kent hosted a reception for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Present at the palace were over 250 actors, playwrights, teachers, producers, and directors from both Britain’s film and stage industries reported USA Today. Such well-known stars as Helen Mirren, Uma Thurman, Hugh Laurie, Helena Bonham Carter, Joan Collins, Joely Richardson, Gemma Arterton, Roger Moore, Steve McQueen, Harvey Weinstein, Ralph Fiennes, and Angela Lansbury chatted up the Queen and future Queen of England according to US Weekly. Helen Mirren previously played the role of the Queen in her Academy Award wining performance The Queen in 2007.
Middleton wore a red Alexander McQueen dress for the occasion, the same dress she showed off in June of 2012 at the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Middleton accessorized with Prada shoes and an Anya Hindmarch “Maud” clutch.
Although the Duke of Cambridge and Middleton’s husband, Prince William, was not present at the event, he presented a BAFTA award the night before to Mirren.
This marked a very notable event at the palace as the Queen and Middleton have only hosted a few public engagements together.
