Outfielder Coco Crisp will be staying with the Oakland A's for two more years. The A's signed him to a two-year contract extension worth $22.75 million in guaranteed money.
The 34-year-old will play in his fifth year with the A's since leaving the Kansas City Royals after the 2009 season. Crisp has also played for the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox.
According to ESPN, Crisp's contract runs through 2016. The deal also includes an option for 2017, which may become guaranteed if he plays enough games or makes enough plate appearances.
Crisp will earn $11 million in 2015 and 2016, and he can earn another $13 million in 2017. There is also a buyout option for $750,000 included in the deal.
According to CBS Sports, Crisp hit a career-high 22 home runs in 2013 with 66 runs batted in and stole 21 bases in 131 games played. His batting average stood at .261.
The A's are the two-time defending American League West champions, and they will look to win their third consecutive division title in the competitive division that includes the Texas Rangers and two rising teams in the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.
