The Arizona Diamondbacks beefed up their starting rotation by signing Bronson Arroyo to a two-year contract worth $9.5 million each in 2014 and 2015.
According to CBS Sports, Arroyo also has an option for 2016 that will be worth $11 million with a buyout option worth $4.5 million.
Arroyo finished with solid numbers in 2013, which included a 3.79 earned run average and a 14-12 record, according to NBC Sports.
Arroyo has been consistent in the past five years, logging an ERA below four in four of his past five seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. He has also been able to stay healthy, making at least 32 starts since the 2005 season.
Arroyo began his career in 2000 with the Pittsburgh Pirates before signing with the Boston Red Sox in 2003. He signed with the Reds in 2006 and remained there until 2013.
The Diamondbacks' rotation will look to take another step forward after receiving solid production from Patrick Corbin and Trevor Cahill. They are expected to stay competitive with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West title if their pitching can step up.
