One suspect arrested in S.C. State shooting of Brandon Robinson

One out of the four suspects in the S.C State University shooting of Brandon Robinson on Friday has been arrested. The gunman’s name is Justin Bernard Singleton, 19.

According to CNN, a police said that the two students were arguing when Singleton pulled out a gun and shot Robinson in the neck. Robinson died of the injury at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.

A motive has not been identified as to why Singleton and Robinson were fighting, as well as why Singleton shot the 20 year old football player.

According to WISTV, Singleton will remain in Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center after a judge denied him bail.

At the time of the shooting, the S.C. State University went on lock down, as did Claflin University, which is located across the street. The lockdown was released at Claflin University when no immediate threat was foreseen. South Carolina State University Police Chief Mernard Clarkson urged parents to not be worried on Friday. The perimeter of the school was protected if the suspects tried to reenter.
