Tina Fey, Amy Poehler to host Golden Globes for the next two years

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced today that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globes again. The two NBC comedians will host the Globes for the next two years.

“It’s wonderful news,” HFPA president Theo Kingma said in a statement. “They have always been our first choice as hosts and we’re delighted they are back for the next two years.”

The two Saturday Night Live alums earned widespread praise for their hilarious hosting job earlier this year. Audiences loved their performance, too and throughout the past year, they had been asked repeatedly if they’d be interested in hosting again.

It was reported back in August that they were asked to do it again and obviously, they’ve said yes.

“Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season,” Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement released by the network. “We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”

This year’s awards ceremony brought in 19.7 million viewers and a 6.4 18-49 rating, a 28 percent from the previous year. The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place on Jan. 12, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
