Go Back Where You Stayed Last Night is the second album from unconventional and passionate singer Gay Marshall.
Marshall’s talent started with her interest in acting. At the age of 9 Marshall pursued acting classes to quench her desire. This only opened the doors to Broadway where she shined on the stage. Working on Broadway inspired Marshall to embark on her career as a musician.
Go Back Where You Stayed Last Night takes you back in time to the 1920’s and 1930’s with the classic jazz beat laced with blues. The album consists of 15 covers songs from artists like: Ethel Waters, Duke Wellington, Jimmy Cox and many more.
About the songs Marshall told
The Hype Magazine , “The songs are real feel-good…real emotional songs,” said Gay Marshall about her latest album release that she produced and arranged herself. “I was always into theater. I always wanted to sing and dance, though I couldn’t because I didn’t get a lot of encouragement.”
The album starts off with “Brother You Got Me Wrong” that is a upbeat classic tune that will have you snapping your fingers to the sound. The piano and saxophone intertwine perfectly with Marshall’s prominent voice. This style is mirrored in the next single called “Guess Who’s In Town.”
Marshall moves to a slower and seductive sound in the singles “I Ain't Got Nuthin But the Blues” and “Go Back Where You Stayed Last Night” These songs embody the spirit of blues. The sound reminded me of the classic New Orleans jazz style.
Go Back Where You Stayed Last Night is an authentic jazz and blues album that will have your feet tapping and hands clapping to each timeless track.
