Zoe Saldana on Jolie: 'thank you for being so brave'

Zoe Saldana and Fran Drescher react to Angelina Jolie’s recent double mastectomy at the Star Trek into Darkness premiere Thursday night.

Zoe Saldana talked to ETonline about how she felt when she heard the news about Jolie’s surgery. "I hope she recovers quickly. If she were here I would say thank you for being so brave. And knowing that for sharing the personal experience you're going to empower and inspire a lot of women who are victims of cancer right now to heal and survive. She's the ultimate badass!" Saldana wore a Rodarte dress to the premiere, accessorizing with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Oscar Tiye heels. Jolie reveled yesterday in an editorial piece for the NYtimes that she underwent a double mastectomy to lower her risk of breast cancer, a disease her mother died from after a 10-year battle.

The Nanny actress, Fran Drescher who also battled cancer in 2000 praised Jolie for opening up about the procedure. "I think that the way she courageously comes forward and leverages her celebrity for the greater good is incredible and I have the utmost respect for her. Our paths crossed when her mother was suffering from cancer and I had uterine cancer and so we kind of shared similar concern for women's health.” Drescher founded The Cancer Schmancer Movment after being diagnosed with uterine cancer.
