Mary J. Blige owes $900K in state taxes, $3.4M in federal taxes

R&B icon, Mary J. Blige, was rocked by a one-two punch from the IRS as she received a state tax lien for $900,000 and then another for $3.4 million owed to the federal government.

In February, the NY Post reported that the IRS hit Blige with a $900,000 bill for failing to pay property taxes on her luxury home in Saddle River, New Jersey.

She bought the 18,000-square-foot home in 2008 for $12.5 million, but had to put it back on the market in 2011.

Three months later, TMZ now reports that Blige has been dealt another blow via a whopping $3.4 million dollar lien. According to the news site, Blige failed to pay income taxes in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Unfortunately, Blige’s financial troubles don’t stop with the IRS. Recently, Signature Bank filed a lawsuit against the 9-time Grammy winner and her husband, Kendu Isaacs. The bank claimed that the couple defaulted on a $2.2 million loan and is seeking the original amount plus $58,000 in interest.

Blige seems on the verge of drowning in debt, but a representative for the singer told TMZ, “Mary has been and is continuing to work with her new team to resolve all these issues as quickly as possible.”
