Ethan Coen’s first full-length play to debut Off Broadway in August

Ethan Coen, one-half of the Oscar winning Coen brothers, has had one-act plays performed before, but the filmmaker’s first full-length play is set to premiere Off Broadway this summer.

The Atlantic Theater Company announced today that it will stage Women or Nothing, which David Cromer will direct, reports Broadway.com. The comedy will be performed at the Linda Gross Theatre, with previews starting on Aug. 28. Opening night is slated for Sept. 16 and it will close on Oct. 6.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coen has written one-act plays, titled Almost an Evening, Offices and Happy Hour, which the Atlantic also staged together. He also contributed a short play for Relatively Speaking in 2011 titled Talking Cure.

Coen and his brother Joel Coen recently finished work on Inside Llewyn Davis, which premiered at Cannes and earned a warm critical reception this week. The film is a 1960s-set tale centered on a folk singer played by Oscar Isaac.

The Atlantic also announced its full 1013-2014 slate, including the American premiere of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, which Roy williams adapted from the short story by Alan Sillitoe. The company will also stage a revival of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera.
