Jason Aldean has officially filed for divorce from his wife Jessica Ussery amidst rumors that their marriage was on the brink of falling apart.
Aldean and Ussery, who have been married since 2001 and are high school sweethearts, did confirm they were having marital problems following a public cheating scandal in September.
But TMZ has learned that the country singer has filed the papers for divorce on April 26.
That same day, a rep for Aldean said “Jason and his wife are having problems, but there is nothing more to share with the press at this time," adding, "It's a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way.”
Aldean was seen publicly making out with former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr back in September. He and Ussery tried to make it work, even putting on a united front on the red carpet, but they ultimately couldn’t.
“I hasn't always been roses. We've been together for a long time and through a lot of things together,” Aldean has said, “Those are things that most people get to deal with in private, but we didn't have the luxury of doing that.”
Aldean and Ussery have two daughters together.
